Vuurwapen Blog Compares FireClean to Common Vegetable Oil

In what is sure to cause a stir in the shooting community, a recent analysis by Vuurwapen Blog has shown the popular gun oil, FireClean, to be very similar chemically to common vegetable oils. Whether or not this means FireClean actually is vegetable oil remains to be seen as the infrared spectroscopy did reveal some very minor differences, but right now the two look to be incredibly close chemically. Based on feedback from Vuurwapen and the chemist who worked with them on the analysis, FireClean’s formulation is likely to cause buildup over time if exposed to UV radiation and oxygen.
